Black Ops 2: A beginning
NEWS | Swiftzn | Call Of Duty | March 2, 2013
Hello and a hearty welcome, for those of you who don’t know, (I am going to assume that is most of you), I am Swiftzn, your resident Black Ops II (BLOPS2) scene journalist. I will be in charge of keeping you up to date with all things Blops 2 related.
So a short while ago, the Do Gaming Summer Leg kicked off with the inclusion of Activision’s latest game, and boy was there a lot of interest!
This initial interest has continued to grow with just under 89 Active teams (with 11 teams having retired).
As four weeks of the leg have already gone we can see some of the teams have established a healthy competitive edge. Bravado are going against the top contender of Group J in their pick and play, when this will happen I will have to update you. Unfortunatly due to a lot of teams retiring in Group J it has thrown the matches off just slightly – although a few notable teams that have emergered from the woodworks namely CSA.Bushido*, OpG .BlitzenKriegers and rA`Vengeance who are all top of their respective groups.
Following “Treyarch’s” recent intergration of the ability to stream directly to Twitch.tv (you could already do this directly to YouTube) we may see an increase in the viability of Blops 2 becoming a top contender to be a hit spectator eSport. Although this feature is currently only available on the Xbox 360 version, it has been assured that it will be added to both PC and PS3.
On another front most of you will have had the opportunity to access Blops 2’s first DLC (downloadable content) map pack, aptly named Revolution and the name sets the tone for this DLC. It includes four new multiplayer maps, and for you zombie fans you get a double whammy with a new map called “Die Rise” and a mod called “Turned”.
Blops 2 has already gained a huge online following and has been described as being very “playable” and “responsive” like the first-person shooters (FPS’s) of yester-year. In a lot of the Call of Duty games, after CoD4, I felt a certain amount of “lag” in-game. It wasn’t responsive and I would press a button and wait a while before anything happened, a knife would turn into a movie scene and such, but they have overcome this in Blops 2 where the game remains responsive and still looks very pretty.
Here are a few helpful hints and tips for newcomers to BLOPS2
- Turn down the graphics right down – put ‘em really low. This will give you an instant and monumental jump in FPS – the higher the better.
- Setup port forwarding – this will help you a lot in the game and end a lot of little naggy problems that are caused. If you need any help here wander over to http://portforward.com/and find your router.
- The more sound the better – you want to turn your volume up way high, all the better to hear your enemy with – it will help a lot.
Well, thats all from me for this week – I’ll catch you guys later on with more news and updates, have an awesome week a-head!
Frag ‘ya later!
