rAge-Expo 2018
NEWS | Abdullah 'anneKsiy' Adam | Bravado | October 12, 2018

This rAge event for us was all about bringing esports to the community in a way that it never has been portrayed before and providing much needed exposure to the potential future star players and world-renowned shout-casters and analysts which we have in South Africa. Our partners, Intel and Alienware, as always, have supported us whole-heatedly in this venture of ours to try and make esports more inclusive.
We had plenty of support from our fans and esports fans in general as well as a phenomenal attendance which we can only thank everyone that participated for. People from all over South Africa, from every walk of life, from every avenue of interest in games, comics and entertainment in general attended our activation’s and had the esport fire in their hearts lit by the seasoned esports personalities we had brought along with us. This all included our Bring the Bravado initiative, our Alienware Press Conference, The Alienware Meet & Greet at Incredible Connection and Gaming Like a Champion on the Main Stage.
The captains of each of our teams in attendance are going to give you some of their insights and remarks about rAge 2018.
In terms of the success of the activation’s, bringing all the Bravado Gaming initiatives was amazing especially with regards to the individuals that attended the activation’s such as the esports personalities we had attending as well as the great turnout.
Things were run very smoothly, all the programs were run on time and you could see that the attendance was full for each event and the presenters did a fantastic job. Visuals and certain presentations were done in a way that opened the eye and caught the attention of a lot of people. Interest as a whole was really amazing because there were people from all sorts of backgrounds and facets of life that showed an interest and wanted to learn more about our industry.
From my perspective I had an absolute blast of a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it because I was able to share my experiences and my journey with people who showed a sincere interest. I felt that I was able to share how I do things and how I’ve grown from being the guy that plays PlayStation in his house to being the captain of the FIFA team that is part of the greatest MGO in South Africa or in Africa as a whole, it’s a great honor for me obviously.
In terms of the stage shows that we did, it was really nice that I was able to share whatever I could around the topic of big match temperament, something that obviously I need to work on myself. Again, even if I educated at least one person, I was honored that an entire crowd had gathered to listen to what I had to say and it was something totally new and absolutely amazing to me. I felt like I was treated like a celebrity and someone that was looked up to and that further motivates me to become a better person and a better player. – Wasim ‘Wass’ Rajah
Recently we had an activation at the 2018 rAge-Expo and it was called Bring the Bravado where we had a lot of esports personalities come together to talk about relevant topics from being a competitive gamer to being an organization owner or a shout-caster or a host and it was really successful. We had a lot of attendance and we sparked a lot of interest. There were tons of youngsters we had that were making decisions and discussing various career paths in esports that they want to take and they brought their parents with to see where they can potentially go in esports to essentially open the mind of a parent of a gamer.
The quality was absolutely outstanding; we had beanbags around the area and the area just looked very clean, inviting and professional. Of course we had the super powerful Alienware PC’s up and we had a very nice stage with fantastic sound. As things usually are with Bravado Gaming, everything was run superbly well, we had a schedule up, there were no delays and everything was done on time. I must admit it was a hell of a lot of fun. We had a lot of interesting conversations especially with me being one of the speakers, I was thoroughly impressed throughout the entire activation that was put on.
My expectations were completely blown away by the attendance, seeing how much we inspired the youngsters there was mind-blowing. We had a signing at Incredible Connection for Alienware and what really struck home for me was the fact that there was this girl whom I signed a shirt for last year at rAge and this year she came wearing the same shirt that I signed and she wanted to get another shirt to have signed. She also told me that she started playing more Counter-Strike now and at a higher competitive level as well and she is even looking at joining a team. She’s 14 and her name is Phoebe. That was heart-warming to me, to see how we actually are changing and positively impacting on peoples’ lives! The Alienware merchandise absolutely flew off of the tables and I didn’t really know what to expect and I was quite tired but the weekend was such a joy and most certainly 100% worth all the effort – Jana ‘Saltymonkey’ Du Toit
I think the activations were a great success, there was a lot of people who came to see the players and people involved and casual gamers gained a lot of knowledge and information regarding ssports in South Africa. Both the NAG and Alienware activations were a huge success and I was pleased to see how much support is behind Bravado Gaming and how much interest there was in the NAG initiative. – Dillon ‘Lithium’ Charalambous
